Privacy policy
This policy explains what Mondeaux, trading as Zuvo Goods, does with personal information collected through https://www.zuvogoods.com. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and with the European General Data Protection Regulation, which applies to us because we are established in the Netherlands.
1. Who is responsible
Mondeaux, Torenlaan 5B, 1402 AT Bussum, Netherlands, is responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us at info@zuvogoods.com about anything in this policy.
2. What we collect
- Order information: your name, delivery address, billing address, email address, phone number, and what you ordered.
- Payment information: handled by our payment provider. We see whether a payment succeeded and the last four digits of the card. We never see or store the full card number.
- Correspondence: the emails and messages you send us, and our replies.
- Technical information: your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visited on our site.
- Marketing preferences: whether you have subscribed to our emails, and whether you open them.
3. Why we use it, and on what basis
- To fulfil your order — taking payment, shipping, tracking, and dealing with returns. Without this information we cannot complete the sale.
- To answer you — replying to questions and handling complaints.
- To meet our legal obligations — Dutch tax law requires us to keep invoices and order records for seven years.
- To protect the shop — checking for fraudulent orders and keeping the site secure. This is a legitimate interest of ours and does not override your rights.
- To send marketing emails — only where you have asked for them.
4. Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. We use:
- Necessary cookies, which keep your cart and your session working. The site cannot function without them and they cannot be switched off.
- Analytics cookies, which tell us how many people visit and which pages they look at, in aggregate.
- Marketing cookies, which measure whether an advertisement led to a visit.
You can accept or refuse the non-necessary categories through the banner shown on your first visit, and change your mind at any time through your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies will stop checkout from working.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information and we never will. We share it only with the parties who need it to get your order to you:
- Shopify, which hosts the shop and stores order data.
- Our payment providers, which process the payment.
- Our suppliers and the carriers they use, which receive the name, address and phone number needed to deliver the parcel.
- Our email provider, for order confirmations and, if you subscribed, marketing emails.
- Our accountant and, where the law requires it, the tax authorities.
Each of these may only use the information to do the job we have asked them to do.
6. Where your information is stored
Our systems store data on servers in the European Union and, in Shopify's case, in Canada and the United States. Because our suppliers and carriers are located outside Australia, delivery information is disclosed to overseas recipients, mainly in the European Union and Asia.
These transfers are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or by an adequacy decision. We take reasonable steps to make sure overseas recipients handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but you should be aware that you may not be able to enforce those principles against an overseas recipient directly.
7. How long we keep it
- Order and invoice records: seven years, because Dutch tax law says so.
- Customer service correspondence: two years after the matter is closed.
- Marketing subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, and we then keep a record of the unsubscribe so that we do not email you again.
- Analytics data: twenty-six months.
8. Security
The whole site runs over an encrypted connection. Access to order data is limited to the people who need it, protected by individual accounts and two-factor authentication. Payment details go straight to the payment provider and never touch our systems.
No system is completely secure. If a breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
9. Your rights
- Access — ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Deletion — ask us to erase your information, except where we are legally required to keep it.
- Objection — object to us processing your information on the basis of our legitimate interests.
- Portability — receive the information you gave us in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — where processing rests on consent, withdraw it at any time.
Email info@zuvogoods.com and we will answer within thirty days. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we release anything. Exercising any of these rights is free.
10. Marketing and your choices
We only send marketing emails to people who asked for them. Every one carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately, and we act on unsubscribe requests within five business days, as the Spam Act 2003 requires.
You can also ask us to stop by email. You will still receive transactional messages about orders you have placed — order confirmations, dispatch notices and refund notices are not marketing and cannot be unsubscribed from while an order is open.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone for their own marketing.
11. Dealing with us anonymously
You can browse the shop without telling us who you are, and you can ask us a general question by email without placing an order. We do need your real name and address to deliver a parcel, so an order cannot be placed anonymously.
12. Children
The shop is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
13. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email info@zuvogoods.com with the details. We will investigate and reply within thirty days.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or — because we are established in the Netherlands — to the Dutch Data Protection Authority at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
14. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when what we do changes. The current version always sits on this page, and material changes are announced on the site before they take effect.
